58 participants ranging from NHS clinicians, designers from Design Reality, to IT NHS developers came together July 4th-July 5th to tackle the NHS’s greatest healthcare challenges. 8 teams worked on problem statements from combating isolation in elderly care to gamifying PT. Three winning teams at the GDEHackathon as selected by the judges had the prestigious opportunity of pitching in the iLinks Conference, where the Top Prize was selected by Audience Vote. In Third Place, Interconnect, a patient-facing portal that leverages social groups, clinical advice, and online resources for rare diseases. Specialist Match took Second Place as a smart matching algorithm between General Practitioners and Specialists for patient referral based on schedule and demographics data. Top Prize went to Life Games, a suite of apps that stealthily educates children on healthy habits. Keep an eye out for these teams as they move their ideas to impact in the U.K.!
